The Lonely Death of George Bell
Posted by
Lynne Butler, BA LLB
There is a story in the New York Times that is both sad and fascinating. It tells the story of George Bell, a man who lived alone in New York, and who was apparently missed by nobody when he died. The story describes in detail how the mechanism of the government steps in when there is no family to look after the death of an individual, which is a touching read at this time of year in particular. It also shows how the things we leave behind tell our story. Click here to read the story.
