CBA helps lawyers plan for retirement, illness etc
Posted by
Lynne Butler, BA LLB
The Canadian Bar Association has created materials for helping lawyers plan for retirement as well for unpredictable events such as long-term illness, injury or premature death. One of the most important elements is protecting the clients whose confidential files are in the hands of the lawyer. This article, from the CBA website, is a detailed list of pointers to get a lawyer started on this planning. It's also interesting reading for people who wonder what lawyers do with their files when they retire or pass away.
