My trip to Wagner Road branch - estate planning for business owners

Yesterday afternoon I spent a couple of hours at the Wagner Road branch of Scotiabank holding a seminar for customers who are also business owners. I talked to the group for about an hour, covering the basics of personal and business estate planning and talking about how those two things must work together for successful planning. We covered wills, Enduring Powers of Attorney, succession planning, tax planning, estate freezes... a heck of a lot of information!

It was a really good group with lots of questions. We all hung around in the branch for half an hour or so afterwards, munching on the refreshments and talking about individual issues with planning. The session was free for customers and we gave everyone a copy of a succession planning book written by Scotiabank, along with some materials that I'd prepared. If this is the kind of seminar you'd like to participate in at your bank, mention it to your branch manager or personal banking officer next time you see them.
