Remote (video) will signing now available in Newfoundland and Labrador

As of today, lawyers in Newfoundland and Labrador can witness wills using video technology so that we don't have to see the clients in person. Other provinces, including Ontario and Saskatchewan, are already doing this and I expect others will follow suit. The reason is, of course, to help stop the spread of the coronavirus by reducing physical contact with others.

It's a temporary measure, designed to fill an important need that has recently arisen. Later, when the virus is less of a threat, we will no longer be able to use the video technology.

If anyone has been wishing to get their will prepared but are worried about staying safe or isolated, call your lawyer to see whether he or she is able to help you remotely. We're pretty good at finding ways to get things done!
