This week's episode (Sept. 23, 2017) of The Law Show was all about Letters of Administration. We clarified which of the different kinds fit different situations and de-mystified the Latin words used in the probate courts. We also talked about some of the things that commonly frustrate individuals who are trying to apply for Letters of Administration. We covered how the job compares to being an executor. Click here if you'd like to listen to it online.
We assist many clients with Letters of Administration, both the application for it and working with it once the court has granted the application.
The kit we referred to in the episode is one that we developed in-house for people who have a very simple estate to take care of, perhaps with only one or two assets of modest value, and who don't want to hire a lawyer to apply for Letters of Administration. There kits are for Newfoundland and Labrador only. You can get a copy by clicking here or by calling our office at 709-221-5511.
You'll notice that we also offer very inexpensive guides to practical matters such as intestacy so that you can get the distribution of the estate right, and topics such as record-keeping to save you a bunch of headaches.
