OPP warn families to limit personal information in funeral notices

Just when you think people can sink no lower, they go and prove you wrong. Recently the Ontario Provincial Police started warning the public to be careful about sharing addresses and other information in published funeral notices and obituaries. There has been an uptick in the number of thieves who see the notices, realize the family is going to be away, and use that time to break into the home. Read more about this story here.

This is not a new crime, of course, but apparently it has caught on lately.

If you don't have an alarm system, or maybe a big, angry dog you can leave at home, you might be able to arrange with a neighbour to come over and house-sit for you.
