In Canada, we have laws that prevent a killer from inheriting from his or her victim. That makes perfect sense in terms of deterrence, not to mention addressing moral outrage. However, I recently read an article by two Toronto lawyers that raised the question of whether persons convicted of other serious crimes against a victim could inherit from that victim. In particular, they mention spousal abuse. To read the article by Ian Hull and Suzana Popovic-Montag, click here.
