Newfoundlanders and Labradorians commemorate the hundreds of young men (including my own great-uncle Harry Butler) annihilated at the battle of Beaumont Hamel on July 1, 1916. I found the discussion of the dichotomy of having both Memorial Day and Canada Day on the same day to be particularly interesting. Click on the link to have a listen. Incidentally, the poor spelling and arbitrary capitalization in the written blurb on the web page are not indicative of the quality of the interview itself, thank goodness.
