The Importance of Up-to-Date Powers of Attorney and Wills

A recent case from the Alberta Court of Queen's Bench should serve as a warning to all Canadians who don't have Wills, and who don't have Enduring (Continuing) powers of attorney or health care directives. The poor fellow in this case didn't have any of those documents, and lost much of his modest estate to legal fees and court filing fees. Not to mention that his family ended up in court to argue over who was to be in charge.
