It does seem that elder financial abuse is on the rise. Some blame it on the tough economy. Some blame it on the breakdown of the nuclear family, and still others on the legal system or banking system. It's probably a combination of a lot of things and the issue isn't going away any time soon. I have a new book coming out in 2011 about the prevention of elder financial abuse by outsiders and by family members. Please keep an eye out for that!
